Hey Reader, As you know, this newsletter is all about emotional fitness and self discovery. Every week I share perspectives, stories, and challenges that help us understand how to navigate our lives as humans and evolve into better and better versions of ourselves. I'm writing this just after the Eclipse in the UK that just passed over us. Folks in my community were sharing eclipse glasses that let us see the little bits of the sun and witness this rare astrological event, and I was reminded that just as we were forced into a type of darkness for a little while, sometimes in life we are forced into some darkness mentally and emotionally. This is a time for introspection, and for acknowledging the ways in which we come full circle in our journeys of individual evolution. Which has got me reflecting for myself on perception and interpretation. Let me explain. I have a saying: Human beings choose what they wish to be true and label that as reality. By that definition, reality is an illusion. It is based upon our perception, which seems true to us, but every other perception (person) has their own truth that seems objective to them too. Because our perception is based upon our current perspective. And our perspective is a choice. Physically, where we choose to stand and look shapes our perspective of the physical world - what we can see in that moment. Well, this is the case within us too. Mentally and emotionally, we choose our perspectives, our mindsets, our responses. That all shapes what we think is going on in "reality". And, we can choose to see a different reality. How does this work practically? Think about it like a logical flow chart, or an equation. This is how most people see the world: Action -> Result For example: "Someone is crying in front of me [action]. That means they must be sad [result]." However, when you understand that we are choosing our reality, there a new and deeper layer is available: Action -> Interpretation -> Result For example: "Someone is crying in front of me [action]. I wonder if something made them upset [interpretation]. That would mean they must be sad [result]." That middle layer of interpretation, or our chosen perspective, is important. Because it's the only part that we can change. In that example, the chosen interpretation was that if someone is crying, they were made upset. But if we choose a different interpretation, it would change what we thought the outcome was. And that would mean a change in what we perceived reality to be. For example, you could choose the interpretation of:
And those would all change the result (the reality one would interpret is taking place in that moment). Now, I think this is the most important part: When you choose a certain perspective often enough, it becomes your default habit. Your default habits, when applied to your character, become your personality. And as Joe Dispenza likes to say, "Your personality creates your personal reality." In other words, if someone were to keep choosing the same "negative" or otherwise unhelpful perspective over and over again, not only would they interpret reality to be worse than it is, they would actually make it worse for themselves. Because it will become their personality. If one thinks others are always out to get them, or that they're all alone, or that they're not capable, it becomes true, because they'll act like it's objective reality. But it isn't. It's a choice. By that same logic, if you choose your interpretation more carefully, you are choosing your reality. And if you choose more positively, you create a more positive personality, and therefore reality. When you:
Then you become a real creator, the real manifester of your reality. If you change your perspective, you change your reality. One other practical way you can change that reality is by supporting others. And another is by getting to know them more deeply, instead of assuming you know them. By the way, I could actually use your help in a way that achieves both of these things 👀 To be able to help the audience of about 1500 that I have on here, we've put together a survey that will help me learn more about you, and that will give me the opportunity to better serve you all! So Reader, please could you do me a favour and fill out this 5 min survey? Anyways, I digress 😉 That you for being here, and for being a part of the start of this movement. I hope we all create the most positive and powerful reality we can. And I hope this helps you get a little closer to that.
